GOSHEN - A Pittsfield woman was hurt after striking a trash truck on Main Street Tuesday morning, sending her car into the trees nearby.
Cassidy Tatro, whose age was unavailable, was headed east when her car clipped the back end of a Waste Management truck that was backing out of the Goshen General Store parking lot, according to Fire Chief Sue Labrie and state police.
Emergency personnel responded to the accident at 8:20 a.m.
The impact sent Tatro's car off the road, over a snowbank and into the woods, where it struck several trees before coming to rest, Labrie said. Tatro was taken by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. A Baystate spokeswoman said that Tatro was treated and released.
The driver of the truck was not injured. State police issued Tatro with a warning for impeded operation of a motor vehicle and failure to use care in stopping. Tatro's windshield was obstructed by accumulated road sand, state police said.
